Restored 1960 Austin-Healey “Bug Eye” Sprite

Only 120 miles on a $22k+ full restoration - completed spring 2019 (50,339 original miles on chassis)
Car was awarded 2nd place in its class at the 2019 Forest Grove Concours d'Elegance, in Forest Grove, OR. (Printed program from that event will be included in the sale)

Car spent the 1960’s on the track in Southern California's SCCA circuit, but has since been put back to OEM spec.

Car starts without fail and without smoke, even when cold. Car runs, drives and brakes as it should, rib-case transmission shifts smoothly through all 4 gears, plus reverse. Please note that early Sprites were manufactured without a synchro mesh for first gear, so the vehicle must come to a complete stop before putting the car into first gear. The car has the standard slow "weeps" of any early British sports car, (even after a complete overhaul)

Engine restoration notes:
Complete engine and mechanical rebuild in 2018 by Harrold’s in Portland, OR. Work also performed by BMC (British Motor Care) Portland, OR:

Engine:
1098 “A-series” MG engine w/ dual SU carbs
*Engine is larger than stock, and not original to the car (installed during the cars racing years)
- Large journal build (+.066) w/ new pistons & rings
- New crankshaft, connecting rods and main bearings.
- New clutch and pressure plate.
- New camshaft, bearings, valve lifters and valves.
- Hardened valve seats, rockers and rocker shaft.
- Cylinder head was converted to “no-lead” fuel compliant
- New distributor
- New plugs (original plug wires)
- New master cylinder
- New exhaust system
- Converted to SU electric fuel pump w/ inertial fuel shut-off.
- Converted to 12v negative ground.
- New wire loom (full car)
- New battery
- New generator
- New Starter
- New electronics
- New reproduction radiator
- New coolant, fuel, air lines throughout
- New reproduction heater vent tube

Non-Engine restoration notes:
- New bodywork & Paint in 2018 - including steering and suspension parts.
- New reproduction Lucas “tri-bar” headlights
- NOS 1960’s SCCA oval grill badge (rare & hard to find)
- NOS aluminum Black Great Britain “GB” oval country badge
- New reproduction windscreen glass *custom etched w/ factory logo per OEM spec.
- All steel brightwork NOS, reproduction, or re-chromed (bumpers, grill, over riders, gas cap etc.)
- All aluminum bright work stripped, polished & anodized per OEM spec. (interior trim, wind screen frame etc.)
- New reproduction bumper supports
- "A" Pillar windscreen uprights were stripped and painted to OEM spec.
(most people just strip and polish these, which is not to concourse standard, when new these were painted to match the wheel color)
- Vintage NOS 1960 Oregon license plate and ’60 tag. (Legally registered and drivable as a historical vehicle in Oregon, with the above plate and tag.)
- Original steel wheels re-painted silver to OEM spec (including matching full-size spare in the boot)
- New reproduction bias ply tires per OEM spec (including matching full-size spare in the boot)
- New Reproduction AH hubcaps
- New old stock speedo (was new in the box, but was refurbished/calibrated in SoCal)
- New red upholstery, (true to OEM spec) including foam/horse hair padding
- New dash upholstery (Black)
- Both side windows restored to OEM spec, w/ new slider glass (plexi) and rubber trim.
- New reproduction convertible frame bars
- New black vinyl bags for side windows.
- New matching red hood (convertible top)
- New matching red tonneau cover w/ new chrome body snaps/hardware
- New reproduction AH floor mats per OEM spec
- New era correct flooring, boot (trunk) and transmission tunnel covering (no carpet)
- New “ribbed rubber” inner door cards per OEM spec
- New reproduction co*ckpit Heater ducting
- New chrome mini fire extinguisher (mounted with quick release clip in passenger footwell)
- New seatbelts w/ chrome buckles and AH badges
- New Leather door stop straps
