What does 247 composite score mean? ›

247Sports Composite

The Composite aggregates the public ratings for a prospect by the major recruiting services using a propriety algorithm. The Composite combines recruitment ratings from 247Sports' in-house ratings, Rivals.com, and ESPN in order to provide an overall rating for each recruit.

The composite score is usually created by adding all of the ratings together (i.e., the sum) or by taking the average (mean) of the ratings.

The 247Sports Composite Rating assigns stars based on an approximate average distribution of stars from the industry. 247Sports produces ratings and rankings that contribute to the 247Sports Composite. These ratings can also be viewed alongside the 247Sports Composite for a comparison.

With that said, many view that the most useful and informative are the composite rankings that 247 sports put out. A five-star prospect is deemed to be amongst the top 30 players nationally, ones that are expected to immediately contribute as freshmen regardless of where they sign.

As such, any composite score above the 50th percentile, or 19-20, can be considered a solid score. That said, a 20 won't cut it at many competitive colleges. This is why it's better to aim even higher, ideally for the top 25% — or a composite score of around 24.

A 24 is considered competitive at many schools, so retaking the test isn't necessary unless a school you're interested in typically likes to see higher scores. If you're set in that department, focus on keeping your GPA up and even start working on a personal statement for your applications.

COMPOSITE RATING

The resulting rating of technical and fundamental factors is compared with all other stocks in the trading country and assigned a rating from 1 to 99, with 99 being the best. A rating of 90 means the stock has outperformed 90% of all other stocks in the trading country.

The Composite score is the average of your four test scores, rounded to the nearest whole number. Fractions less than one-half are rounded down; fractions one-half or more are rounded up.
