LUBBOCK, Texas — Power outages were reported in Lynn County and vehicles were stranded along roadways after a storm tore through the area late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, officials said.

The Texas Tech Mesonet measured severe wind gusts up to 95 mph near Tahoka overnight. The severe wind gusts were between 2:53 and 3:02 a.m.

An emergency alert from Lynn County Emergency Management said water covered parts of Highway 380 and County Roads AA through YY. Officials said vehicles were stranded on the side of the road. The Lynn County Sheriff’s Office said there was water rushing over roadways.

Power was out after downed lines northeast of Tahoka, officials said. Excel Energy crews were responding, with power expecting to be restored late Wednesday afternoon or evening.

Storm damage was also reported in Levelland. Officials said eight people had minor injuries.
