ACC slips past Redeemer (2024)

WILKES-BARRE — Alyssa Platko’s 28 points led the Royals, but it wasn’t enough as Allentown Central Catholic prevailed over Holy Redeemer in a close girls basketball game Saturday 59-57.

Rebecca Prociak was the only other player in double figures for the Royals with 14 points.

Kayla Hons had the team’s only three-pointer.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Nantico*ke 64, Troy 46

Mike Malshefski had 27 points and two three-pointers in the Trojans’ victory over Troy.

Brent Piontkowski was the only other player in double figures for Nantico*ke with 14 points.

MMI Prep 58, Weatherly 55

Cory Rogers had a big night with 29 points as the Preppers beat Weatherly.

Charlie Karchner also had nine points.

Wyoming Seminary 53, Tunkhannock 52

Seth Callahan’s 24 points was enough for Wyoming Seminary to squeak by Tunkhannock. Doug Thomas had eight points on the night.

Sean Soltysiak had 22 points for the Tigers.

Moravian Academy 51, MMI Prep 41

Rachel Stanziola (12 points) led the way for the Preppers in their loss to Moravian Academy.

Dana and Maria Carrato combined for 12 points.

Pittston Area 122.5, Lake-Lehman 57.5

Irene Magdon (100 back, 500 free) had two wins in the Patriots victory on Friday. Mia Nardone (100 fly, 200 IM) was the only other girl with two victories.

Sami Sharon (50 free), Julia Baur (100 free) and Jill O’Brien (200 free) each had a win for Lake-Lehman.

WRESTLING

Coughlin 53, Hanover Area 12

Brandon Butry (152 pounds) and Tyler Schweit (170 pounds) each scored a win as the Crusaders prevailed over the Hawkeyes. Pat Pilch also grabbed a victory in the 285 pound match.

Anthony Elk earned a win in the 160 class for Hanover Area.

Berwick 42, Lake-Lehman 36

Joshua Gregory (145 pounds) and Stone Force (220 wins) each had wins in their classes as Berwick outlasted Lake-Lehman. Peter Talanca grabbed a victory in the 152-pound class.

Jake Tomolonis (126 pounds) and Brady Butler (182 pounds) each had a victory for Lake-Lehman.
