Appenini mountain, close to Parma. A wake up very early: 3.45! Start at 7.00, with the dawn in progress. A friend at start and rolling legs.Ahead await me: 68 km and a lot of mountains to cover.BUT at half-race, I decided that for today I risk to end the race completely destroyed or to be stopped at a hourly gates.I switch to the 43 km race and I end it! in 6h20'Conclusion: do not reach the goal, it's not a defeat, it's the capacity under pressure, under endorphine, under competitive mood, to say "hey, guy, today we have to change our goal, but not to give up to reach a goal.Reasons? to discover first that with warm, with heavy tracks, your preparation was not enough to match a very challenging race. It's a big lesson, for our management: forget the spirit of "all or nothing" and be clever to find alternative solutions with different goals, even when you're running!#SKYMARATHONTARTUFOTRAIL #trailrunning #defeat #goalschange #goals

"RunSignupās RaceTrends report shows that race participation grew an average of 10% over the last year, and trailed 2019 participation by just 1%. However, large races struggled to attract as many registrants, with events of more than 5,000 participants averaging 16% fewer participants than in 2019 while events with fewer than 500 participants actually grew..."https://lnkd.in/eudqNnq6RunSignup #outdoorindustry #outdoorrecreation #outdooreconomy

Landsat Earthās Iconic WavesThis is the last installment of the inter connectivity of waves, surfing and shipping. Surfing:We end with Teuhupoo, Tahiti. This is one of the most powerful waves found anywhere. When itās big, like all the other breaks, itās a jet ski tow in. Here is a video of a winner of the Worst Wipe Out Awards; yes, itās an annual award based on submissions from around the globe. This is Italian Niccolo Porcello losing speed and going over the lip ( curl). Look at him fighting to maintain his attitude before getting crushed. Did he die you ask ? Not at allā¦ he went back out after spitting blood . https://lnkd.in/e6Yx22tSShipping:While searching for shipping services to Tahiti I found one of the most unique vessels Iāve seen around; the MV Aranui 5 holds about 200 passengers and is used for inter island cargo services throughout the islands of Polynesia.https://lnkd.in/e3xriWnKA similar concept is just what the Caribbean could use for inter island cruise/ferry/ cargo operations in the Leewards/Windwards. A cruise on the Aranui 5 can last 5-13 days and it costs a bundle. I for one do not like cruising on the latest generation of pax ships; but I could definitely enjoy this ship watching cargo operations while transporting products needed in these small islands. To close the circle with the theme of this series; the ship may be booked for three weeks during the summer of 2024 to be used as a floating base for the Olympic Surfing championships to be held at Teuhupoo!! #shippingservices #teuhupoo #surfing #aranui5 #polynesie #tahiti #marquesas #borabora #pitcairn#cargoshipping #cargoship

Did you know that the very first recorded Ancient Olympic race, held way back in 776 BC, was conquered by none other than a talented chef named Corubus of Elis? In a world where athletic prowess was revered, it might come as a surprise that a chef took centre stage in one of history's most significant sporting events. The stadion race, a thrilling 200-yard sprint, was a test of speed, strength, and endurance. But Corubus proved that cooking up delectable dishes isn't the only thing he excelled at ā he was a true sprinting sensation! Corubus' triumph wasn't just about winning a race; it symbolized something greater. It challenged the conventional notions of what an athlete should be, showing that talent can manifest in unexpected places. His victory blurred the lines between artistry and athleticism, proving that passion and dedication know no boundaries. But his achievement also underscores the universal truth that success knows no profession. Whether you're a chef, a coder, an artist, or a business tycoon, the path to victory is paved with determination, hard work, and a commitment to excellence. It's a lesson we can all learn from and apply to our own careers and aspirations.#FuelSports #sportsfacts #sportsevents #sportsfans #sportshistory
